Great Workplaces is based on a framework which has been developed with accreditation experts and tested with veterinary professionals. The Framework is an extension of the Good Veterinary Workplaces voluntary code and combines the main principles of a healthy workplace with achievable and aspirational criteria. A workplace can be accredited at either Silver or Gold levels according to assessment in the four main areas: Health and Wellbeing, Leadership and Management, Culture, and Learning and Development.

To achieve the Great Workplaces accreditation, organisations are assessed on 18 themes across the four areas, using an online survey which is completed by all employees, and interviews with a cross-section of team members, or all team members for those workplaces with fewer than 10 people.

Silver Accreditation

Workplaces that foster a supportive, inclusive culture, with clear roles and good communication. They encourage and encompass a positive work environment.

Gold Accreditation

Workplaces have effective leadership, excellent communication, and continuous development. They embody an outstanding work environment.
