Part of being a member of BVA is having the opportunity to have your voice heard. The combination of our long history of veterinary expertise and the size and strength of our community means we’re in a position to influence decision-making at the highest level.
Here are some of the key campaigns and areas we're currently working on:
We develop evidence-based policy drawing on our members' expertise and experience.
Each year we will focus on priority areas inspired by member feedback and agreed by BVA Council that will drive our campaigns for the coming year.
The Policy Committee (PC) leads the development of BVA policy and sets up working groups on proactive policy work. PC receives advice from the Ethics and Welfare Advisory Panel (EWAP) and liaises closely with our divisions and our branches in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. BVA Council is the final arbiter.
BVA aims to ensure the veterinary voice is heard through national and regional media. Since 2014 the Voice of the Veterinary Profession surveys have played a key role in ensuring BVA is visible in the mainstream medias well as in trade and specialist press.
